Andeira: a city, neuter, in which is a stone "which when burnt becomes iron; then smelted with a certain earth it drips off false-silver; then mixed with copper it becomes brass", Strabo in the thirteenth and Theopompos in the thirteenth. The ethnonym Andeirenos and Andeirene. For so the Mother of the Gods was called there. There is also Andeira in the feminine, of Phrygia.
