Ὅμηρος “οἱ δέ τοι εἰς Ἑλίκην τε καὶ Αἰγάς”. ἀπὸ Ἑλίκα τοῦ Λυκάονος, ἢ Ἑλίκης τῆς Ἴωνος μὲν γυναικός Σελινοῦντος δὲ τοῦ Ποσειδῶνος θυγατρός. ὁ πολίτης Ἑλικώνιος ἀπὸ τοῦ κτιστοῦ Ἑλικῶνος, καὶ Ἑλικωνία τὸ θηλυκόν. ἴσως δὲ τοῦτο ἀπὸ τοῦ ὄρους γέγονεν. ἔστω οὖν Ἑλικεύς, ἢ Ἑλικωνίτης· ἴσως ἀπὸ τοῦ Ἑλικώνιος· ἢ Ἑλικήσιοι. [ἔστι καὶ ἄλλη Θετταλική.]
