Stephanos of Byzantium - Ethnika
Aulai: a harbour-town of the Cilicians between Tarsos and Anchiale. The inhabitants are named Auleotai by the natives. But for in 'ai' the type in 'otes' does not exist, but it seems as from Rhapheia Rhapheiotes 'Rhapheotai'. There are also Aulai, a place of Lycia. If it were said in the singular Aule, it ought to be Auletes or Aulites. For from feminine disyllables in 'e' with 'e' when oxytone, as 'phyletes', but with 'e' when barytone, as 'kometes' Sidetes. 'Karnites' from 'Karne' is to be noted, as we shall say.
