Μίεζα, πόλις Μακεδονίας, ἣ Στρυμόνιον ἐκαλεῖτο, ἀπὸ Μιέζης θυγατρὸς Βέρητος τοῦ Μακεδόνος, ὡς Θεαγένης ἐν Μακεδονικοῖς. Βέρης γὰρ τρεῖς ἐγέννησε, Μίεζαν Βέροιαν Ὄλγανον· ἀφ´ οὗ ποταμὸς ἐπώνυμος καὶ πόλις Βέροια καὶ τόπος Στρυμόνος. τὸ ἐθνικὸν Μιεζεύς καὶ Μιεζαῖος· οὕτως γὰρ χρηματίζει Νικάνωρ, καθὰ Λούκιος.

Mieza: a city of Macedonia, which was called Strymonion, after Mieza daughter of Beretos son of Makedon, as Theagenes in his Makedonika. For Beres begat three: Mieza, Beroia, Olganos; after whom there are named an eponymous river and the city Beroia and the place of Strymon. The ethnonym is 'Miezeus' and 'Miezaios'; for thus Nikanor uses it, according to Loukios.
