Βατίεια, τόπος τῆς Τροίας ὑψηλός. κέκληται ἀπὸ Βατείας τινός, ὡς Ἑλλάνικος ἐν πρώτῃ Τρωικῶν, ἢ ἀπὸ τοῦ πάτου τῶν ἵππων ἤγουν τῆς τροφῆς, τροπῇ τοῦ « π » εἰς « β », ἢ ἀπὸ τῶν βάτων. τὸ ἐθνικὸν Βατιεύς καὶ Βατιειάτης.

Batieia: a lofty place of Troy. It is named from a certain Bateia, as Hellanikos in the first of the Troika, or from the trodden ground of the horses, that is, their fodder, by change of 'p' to 'b', or from the brambles. The ethnonym Batieus and Batieiates.
