Ἀνδροτίων δὲ δι´ ἑνὸς « σ » γράφει. τὸ ἐθνικὸν τῇ τέχνῃ Βολίσσιος ὡς Λυρνήσσιος, Βολισσεύς ὡς Ἁλικαρνασσεύς, καὶ Βολισσίτης ὡς Ὀδησσίτης. χρηστέον δὲ τῷ προτέρῳ διὰ τὸ σύνηθες.

Bolissos: an Aiolic city on a headland near Chios; Thucydides calls it Boliskos in the eighth. And they say that Homer spent his time in this little town, as Ephoros. Androtion writes it with one 's'. The ethnonym technically Bolissios as 'Lyrnessios', Bolisseus as 'Halikarnasseus', and Bolissites as 'Odessites'. The first is to be used because of custom.
