Gergis: a city of Troy. And it is declined Gergithos. The nominative Gergithos is also said, from the genitive, as 'Troizenos'. The citizen Gergithios, the feminine Gergithia; from which the Gergithian oracle-chanting Sibyl, who was also stamped on the coinage of the Gergithians, both she and a sphinx, as Phlegon in the first of the Olympiads. In the sanctuary of Gergithian Apollo they say is the tomb of the Sibyl. There is also another Gergites and in the feminine Gergitis. There is also Gergitheus.
