Στράβων δ´ ἐν ἑβδόμῃ Μακεδονίας αὐτὴν καλεῖ. ὠνόμασται δὲ ἀπὸ Χαλάστρης. ἔστι καὶ λίμνη τῇ πόλει ὁμώνυμος. ὁ πολίτης Χαλαστραῖος. Λυκόφρων “Θεσπρωτὸς ἄμφω καὶ Χαλαστραῖος λέων”. ἔστι δὲ καὶ πόλις ὡς ἀπὸ Χαλαστραῖος Χαλαστραία φησίν. ἡ μὲν παρὰ τὴν λίμνην Χαλαστραῖα, ἐν ᾗ τὸ λίτρον γίνεται.
