Χρυσόπολις, ἐν Βιθυνίᾳ, πλησίον Χαλκηδόνος τὸν ἀνάπλουν πλέοντι ἐν δεξιᾷ. Ἔφορος εἰκοστῷ τρίτῳ “παραδοῦναι τὴν Καλχηδονίων Χρυσόπολιν τοῖς συμμάχοις”. καὶ Θεόπομπος ἐν πρώτῳ Ἑλληνικῶν “ἀνήχθησαν εἰς Καλχηδόνα καὶ Βυζάντιον μετὰ τοῦ λοιποῦ στρατεύματος βουλόμενοι Χρυσόπολιν κατασχεῖν”. Διονύσιος δ´ ὁ Βυζάντιος τὸν ἀνάπλουν τοῦ Βοσπόρου γράφων περὶ τοῦ ὀνόματος αὐτοῦ τάδε φησί “κέκληται δὲ Χρυσόπολις, ὡς μὲν ἔνιοί φασιν, ἐπὶ τῆς Περσῶν ἡγεμονίας ἐνταῦθα ποιουμένων τοῦ προσιόντος ἀπὸ τῶν πόλεων χρυσοῦ τὸν ἀθροισμόν, οἱ δὲ πλείους ἀπὸ Χρύσου παιδὸς Χρυσηίδος καὶ Ἀγαμέμνονος”. ἔστι καὶ ἄλλη Κιλικίας Χρυσόπολις, ὡς ὁ πολυΐστωρ. τὸ ἐθνικὸν Χρυσοπολίτης, ὡς τοῦ Νικόπολις Νικοπολίτης.
