Phoinike: Phoenicia, the region, from the genitive of 'Phoinix', as 'Kres' 'Kretos' Crete, 'Libys' 'Libyos' Libya. Phoinix was the son of Agenor, or of Poseidon and Libya. It was previously called 'Rhabbothe' and 'Kolpites'. The ethnic, with the name of the founder, 'Phoinix', and 'Phoinikios'. The possessive 'Phoinikikos'. There is also Phoinix, not far from Rhodes. And there is a river Phoinix.
