Deipnias: a village of Thessaly, near Larisa, where they say that Apollo first took a meal, when—after being purified in Tempe—he returned; and it is customary for the boy who conveys the laurel, upon arriving here, to dine. Callimachus: “Deipnias, whence it has welcomed him.” The ethnic is Deipnieus, as Aphrodisieus and Orthosieus.
