Stephanos of Byzantium - Ethnika
Phokaia: Phokaia, a city of Ionia. Herodotus in the first book. It is also said 'Phokaie' with 'e'. It was so named because many seals followed the founders. The citizen 'Phokaeus' and 'Phokaieus' and 'Phokaites', and the feminine 'Phokais'. There is also another city of Caria on Mykale. The ethnonym is the same.
