Ἰδάλιον, πόλις Κύπρου. χρησμὸς γὰρ ἐδόθη ... ὅπου ἴδοι τὸν ἥλιον ἀνίσχοντα, πόλιν κτίσαι. ὁ οὖν Χαλκήνωρ περιών ... τὶς τῶν σὺν αὐτῷ ἔφη “εἶδον βασιλεῦ τὸν ἅλιον”. ἀφ´ οὗ ὠνομάσθαι τὴν πόλιν. τὸ ἐθνικὸν Ἰδαλεύς.
