Πόλις, [ὄνομα πόλεως Αἰγυπτίας]. ὁ οἰκήτωρ πολίτης καὶ πολιεύς. Πολιεύς γὰρ ὁ Ζεὺς τιμᾶται, ἀπὸ τῆς πόλιος γενικῆς, κατὰ τροπὴν τοῦ « ος » εἰς « ευς ». τὸ δὲ θηλυκὸν τοῦ πολιεύς πολίεια. λέγεται καὶ ἄλλο θηλυκὸν πολιάς, ὡς Σουνιάς.

Polis:. The inhabitant 'polites' and 'polieus'. For Zeus is honoured as Polieus, from the genitive 'polios', by change of 'os' to 'eus'. The feminine of 'polieus' 'polieia'. Also said another feminine 'polias', as 'Sounias'.
