Stephanos of Byzantium - Ethnika
Sophene: Sophene, a region of those towards Armenia, as Strabo in the eleventh book. But in Arrian Sophanene, with four syllables. The inhabitants Sophenoi. For Strabo says in the aforementioned book: "Arsakes the Sophenian, holding the southern parts". Opposite this lies Commagene, which borders on Melitene.
