Stephanos of Byzantium - Ethnika
Tomeus: Tomeus, a city near Odessos. Strabo in the seventh book. It was so named because Apsyrtos the son of Aietes was cut in pieces there by Medea and Jason in their flight. There is also Tomaion, a mountain beside Koryphasion of Pylos, resembling a knife. The citizen 'Tomites', and 'Tomitis' the feminine. It ought to have been written with the diphthong, as 'Atarneites'.
