Stephanos of Byzantium - Ethnika
Tremithous: Tremithous, a village of Cyprus. They are called Tremithousioi and 'Tremithopolitai'. They say that when Aphrodite set foot in the place, because of the goddess's presence it was shaken by trembling, and so was called Tremithous. But it seems to me to have been named from the terebinths growing around the place, which the Cypriots call 'tremithoi', just as many other places from the plants abounding in them: in Attica Rhamnous, in the Peloponnese Kyparissos and Thryon, and Elaia.
