Ὑδρέα, νῆσος πρὸς τῇ Τροιζῆνι. Ἑκαταῖος Εὐρώπῃ. τὸ ἐθνικὸν Ὑδρεάτης· οὕτω γὰρ ἐχρημάτιζεν Εὐάγης Ὑδρεάτης κωμῳδίας ποιητής, ὡς Διονύσιος εἰκοστῷ τρίτῳ τῆς μουσικῆς ἱστορίας “ἦν δ´ ὁ Εὐάγης ποιμήν τις ἀγράμματος δηλαδὴ καὶ τῆς ἄλλης παιδείας ἄπειρος, ποιητὴς δ´ ἀγαθὸς κωμῳδιῶν”.
