Adana: a city of Cilicia, neuter. Adanos and Saros settled it, having made war on the Tarsians and been defeated. From whom the city Adana after the leader, and they called the river named Koiranos Saros. Adanos is a child of Ge and Ouranos, as are Ostasos and Sandes and Kronos and Rhea and Iapetos and Olymbros. The citizen Adaneus, as 'Gargara' 'Gargareus', Tyana 'Tyaneus'. There is also another city in the interior of Arabia Felix, as Ouranios says in the third of the Arabika. The citizen of this cannot be Adaneus; for that is not the type of the Arabs, but of neuters in 'a' is that in 'enos': 'Zoara' 'Zoarenos', 'Medaba' 'Medabenos', 'Tarphara' 'Tarpharenos', 'Auara' 'Auarenos'. So too Adanenos. Or Adanites, as 'Ailana' 'Ailanites'. Herodian in the fourth of the General: "the feminine 'Adanis' and 'Thebanis' had the of the Aiolic. I know that it is also masculine. So is called a wind blowing from the city Thebe of Eetion, the father of Andromache." If then 'Adanis' is from Adaneus, as 'Tarsis' from 'Tarseus', it ought to be oxytone, unless it is barytone after the Aiolians, which he said of 'Thebanis', if indeed it is an ethnic at all. There is also a third city on the Euphrates. The ethnonym by Persian custom Adanenos.
