Stephanos of Byzantium - Ethnika
Aioleion: a city of the Thracian Chersonese. Theopompos in the twenty-third of the Philippika: "he proceeded to the city Aioleion, which belongs to Attica but is governed together with the Chalkidians". The ethnonym Aioleios as 'Rhoiteios', and Aioleios. This can also be from Aioleus, whence also Aioleion, so that it is general for the people and specific for the city, as 'epeirotes' and 'pontios' among the general and the specific.
