Stephanos of Byzantium - Ethnika
Akmonia: a city of Phrygia, as Alexander Polyhistor in the third on Phrygia. Akmon son of Manes founded it. Akmonites is said from the genitive 'Akmonos'. Akmoneia, from which Akmoneiates. This I have said since the in 'eus' arise from the genitive in 'ou', 'Alexandrou' 'Alexandreus', or from an isosyllabic genitive, 'Apamas' 'Apameus', Hyrias 'Hyrieus'. There is also Akmonian grove around the Thermodon, as Pherekydes, where Ares having lain with Harmonia begot the Amazons, as Apollonios in the second. Whence it is named will be said under the plain of Doias. The ethnonym is disputed, both Akmonieus and Akmonios.
