Αἰγαί, πόλεις πολλαί. Κιλικίας, Μακεδονίας, ἥτις καὶ μηλοβότειρα ἐλέγετο, τῆς Θρᾳκησίων χερρονήσου, καὶ ἡ ἐν Μυρίνῃ ἐν τῇ Αἰολίδι, καὶ Λυδίας καὶ Λοκρίδος καὶ Αἰτωλίας καὶ Εὐβοίας, ἃς Ὅμηρος ἐν τῷ νʹ. τὸ ἐθνικὸν ἀπὸ μὲν δισυλλάβου Αἰγαῖος, ἀπὸ δὲ τρισυλλάβου εὕρηται καὶ οὕτως Αἰγεάτης.

Aigai: many cities. of Cilicia, of Macedonia, which was also called 'sheep-pasturing'; of the Thracian Chersonese, and the one at Myrina in Aiolis, and of Lydia and of Lokris and of Aitolia and of Euboia, which Homer in Book 13. The ethnonym from the disyllable Aigaios, but from the trisyllable is found also thus, Aigeates.
