Bate: a deme of the Aigeid tribe, from which was Habron the son of Kallias, the exegete, who wrote on festivals and sacrifices. The ethnonym adverbially Batethen; for one must not seek the ethnonym in all cases, but either use the adverb, as with the demes, or the genitive with a preposition, or the analogical form, or that customary in the land. The locatives obvious.
