Stephanos of Byzantium - Ethnika
Korykos: a city in Kilikia. Parthenios in a send-off poem. Near it is the Korykion cave of the nymphs, a marvel worthy of admiration, with which the one on Parnassos is homonymous. The ethnonym is 'Korykios'. There he says the city is 'Korykeia'. It is also called 'Korykiotes', perhaps deriving from the form 'Korykion' or from 'Korykia'. There is also Korykos, a mountain, spoken of as masculine, high and near Teos in Ionia and Erythrai, as per Hekataios in Asia. There is also a homonymous harbour and a homonymous little island, on whose coastal route there was a large pirate station, the Korykaians listening in the harbours there to [the matters concerning] the cargoes and voyages of the merchants, and so plotting against them; hence the proverb, applied to those who pry into secrets: 'The Korykaian, it seems, was listening to that.' There is also a promontory of Crete called Korykia, and a harbour in Ethiopia.
