Stephanos of Byzantium - Ethnika
Amphigeneia: a Messenian city. Strabo in the eighth. It belongs, according to Apollodoros, to Makistia, according to Antimachos to Messenia. The city has a sanctuary of Leto; for they say that Leto, coming there, bore Apollo. Menelaos says it is also called Amphigeneion. The ethnonym Amphigeneiates by the Peloponnesian form, or also Amphigeneus.
