Γάδειρα

Gadeira: a city and island in the Ocean, narrow and very long, as it is a strip, a ridge of land. Eratosthenes gives it as 'he Gadeiros', in the feminine. A citizen is a 'Gadeireus'; for this is how the five books of the Pythagorean Lectures of Moderatus the Gadeireus are entitled. The form 'Gadeirites' is also used, as per Alexander Polyhistor. 'Gadeiraios' is also used, as if from the nominative 'he Gadeira', and 'Gadeiranoi', and the possessive is 'Gadeirikos'. Eupolis in his Marikas: 'was the salted fish Phrygian or Gadeiric?'
