Stephanos of Byzantium - Ethnika
Dionysou polis: in the Pontos, formerly Krounoi from the down-flow of the waters. A statue of Dionysos having later been cast up from the sea upon those places, it was so named. There is also Krounoi a place to the west of the city that holds the emperors. Second of Phrygia, a foundation of Attalos and Eumenes, who found a wooden image of Dionysos around the place. Third of India. Fourth of Libya. Fifth, of Thrace. The ethnonym Dionysopolites.
