Καρύα, χωρίον τῆς Λακωνικῆς. Θεόπομπος νεʹ. ὁ οἰκήτωρ Καρυάτης καὶ θηλυκὸν Καρυᾶτις καὶ Καρυαῖος καὶ Καρυεύς. καὶ Καρυᾶτις μέλισσα ἀντὶ τοῦ Λακωνική. Καρύα γὰρ αὐτόθι τόπος.

Karya: a village of Laconia. Theopompos. The inhabitant is a 'Karyates', and in the feminine 'Karyatis', also 'Karyaies' and 'Karyeus'. 'Karyatis' also means a bee, instead of 'Laconian'. For Karya is a place there.
