Dalmion: a city of Dalmatia, between Illyria and Italy. The ethnic adjective is the same (i.e. formed likewise), or Dalmieus. “It is a peculiar custom of the Dalmatae to make a redistribution (re-allotment) of their land every eight-year cycle” (Strabo 7.5.5). Appian (Illyr. 32) calls the city Delminion, while Quadratus (FGrHist 97 F 23) calls it Delminon. They are also said to be called Dalmatae (Dalmatas).
