Stephanos of Byzantium - Ethnika
Kyllene: a mountain in Arkadia, nine [Olympic] stadia less eighty feet [according to Apollodoros]. It is named after Kyllene, a Naiad nymph. ‘They say that on this mountain the blackbirds become white, but nowhere else, and that they send forth varied calls; they are hunted by moonlight, but if anyone tried during the day they would be very hard to catch.’ There is also Kyllene, a harbour of the Eleians; the ethnonym is ‘Kylleneus’ and ‘Kyllenios’; and Hermes is called ‘Kyllios’ by syncope of ‘Kyllenios’.
