Stephanos of Byzantium - Ethnika
Konope: a city in Akarnania. Polybios, book 5. The ethnonym is 'Konopeus', 'Konopites' and 'Konopaios'. There is also a Konopion on the Maiotic Lake, where they say that wolves, when they receive food from the fishermen, guard the catch; but if they suspect that they are being cheated they wreak havoc on both the nets and the fish. The ethnonym is 'Konopios' and 'Konopieus'.
